During this module you will review the importance of maintaining English learners’ (ELs’) home language in order to support English proficiency and academic achievement, promote cognitive development, and preserve ELs’ valuable linguistic and cultural assets; revisit the components of effective literacy instruction and EL instruction; and explore ways to capitalize on ELs’ home language to promote reading success.
As you complete this module, you will:
